Mad Mix
I’m a sucker for mash-ups, inventive arrangements, and the Mad Men theme. So
yay for the self-proclaimed “bunch of film/music nerds” behind Live Music Videos who’ve performed said theme (actually just an excerpt of the RJD2 track “A Beautiful Mine”) “with a twist” [2:18] — namely, by using it as instrumental backing for the pop standard “Nature Boy”. I don’t know if it ranks up there with Eminem’s appropriation of Dido’s “Thank You” for “Stan” or David Bowie and Bing Crosby’s legendary “Little Drummer Boy / Peace on Earth” medley; at the very least, though, it’s a thrill to hear the theme performed acoustically, and I look forward to more from this ensemble.

I haven't watched Mad Men, but I liked this song. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteCan't listen to the song here at work but maybe if I remember later I'll come back from home. :)
ReplyDeleteI followed you over here from Rebecca's (Sonshine's) blog where I won an owl that you may not have! Muahahahaha! Oh yes. I am just that evil.
But you will totally understand my evil ways because I am from your corner of the world. So we have a BOND. Already. (Are you creeped out yet? Lol). I am from Upper Darby, which must be right near your Philly-suburb-neck-o-the-woods. You cannot stalk me, though, unless you drive an hour or so to my current central Jersey location. Take that. :)
Glad to find a fellow "Philly kid"! :) GO PHILS AND EAGLES!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you stopped by, DWAP (Can I call you DWAP?) — and sorry I haven't replied sooner, but online access has been limited lately.
Upper Darby is but a stone's throw from where I live right now... if you have a really good arm. I've known people from there, attended concerts at the Tower on numerous occasions, and even taken the 100 — which isn't the 100 any more; SEPTA has renamed all its regional-rail lines, including the R5 I used to take to work in Center City — to 69th St. Station. After moving her from South Jersey, I actually went to school in Lower Merion, but I hope you won't hold it against me. 8^)
