I’m not sure where this pic came from. A friend sent it to me well before the blog
started up. Whenever 300 — or just Gerard Butler — comes to mind, I think of it and laugh.
The latest installment of the Key of Awesome video series has Batman rapping about plot details from Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight that don’t quite hold together for him [2:39]. It’s fun stuff that got me to check out their take on Dracula’s lament over “emo vampires” [3:19] — not bad, although I’ve definitely seen better Twilight parodies.
I’ve also seen better laments from Dracula, notably “Dracula’s Lament” — the song written and performed by Jason Segel for his character’s vampire-puppet rock opera in last year’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Segel, who plays Marshall Eriksen on How I Met Your Mother and has been a member of Judd Apatow’s repertory since Freaks and Geeks, reprised the number in a highlight of the felttastic 1,000th episode of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Marshall’s puppets were created by the legendary Jim Henson Company. [Update: While the link’s gone bad (and I prefer not to promote unauthorized videos) you can find the clip easily on YouTube.]
